Not Every Ding Deserves Me

When the rhythm of our outer world is disrupted—even by small things—our inner world feels it.

A bird flutters to a nearby branch. An owl hoots in the distance. A car passes. A bike hums by. These are soft interruptions—simple reminders that life is always moving.

But then there are the others.

The pings. The dings. The buzzes.

Notifications that pull us from presence into somewhere else—somewhere less necessary, less true to the moment we were actually living.

Everything in the universe is doing something—even in stillness, there’s purpose.

But when our attention is constantly fractured, scattered across tasks and timelines that don’t really matter, our inner world gets cluttered.

So, I’ve made a change.

All social media notifications: off.

“Do not disturb” mode: scheduled daily—for texts, emails, and calls.

Why? Because I’m tired of the noise. Not just the sound, but the disruption of alignment.

I want to choose what enters my space—and when.

I was talking with a friend recently about someone on my team who often sends group-wide messages:

“Great job, everyone!”

“Keep asking questions!”

“This article is a must-read.”

On the surface, he seems encouraging. But underneath, it often lands as noise—filler without function.

If gratitude is real, it can be shared directly. If a resource is meaningful, it deserves intention and context.

Otherwise, it becomes just another digital nudge—pulling us away from presence, again.

As more of us prioritize our mental and emotional health, I wonder:

What will the noise of the future sound like?

Will it soften into presence?

Or grow louder, disguised as connection?

If you’ve been asking these questions too…

If your soul is seeking more wander, more wonder, more intentional stillness—

I’d love to connect.

This space isn’t for numbers.

It’s for quality. For resonance. For people living awake.
